Description

Air Fryer Salmon Tacos with Slaw offer a vibrant, flavorful, and quick-to-prepare meal. Crispy salmon fillets paired with a fresh, crunchy slaw create a perfect balance of textures and colors, making these tacos ideal for a weeknight dinner or casual occasion.

Ingredients

Scale

For the Salmon

  • 4 fresh skin-on salmon fillets (about 6 oz each)
  • 2 tbsp olive oil (natural)
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika (natural)
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • Salt, to taste
  • Black pepper, to taste

For the Slaw

  • 2 cups cabbage, thinly sliced (red or green)
  • 1 cup shredded carrots
  • 1/4 cup plant-based mayonnaise
  • 2 tbsp apple cider vinegar (natural)
  • 1 tbsp maple syrup (natural)
  • Salt, to taste
  • Black pepper, to taste

For the Tacos and Garnishes

  • 8 small corn or flour tortillas
  • Fresh cilantro leaves, for garnish
  • Optional: thinly sliced jalapeño

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Salmon: Pat the salmon fillets dry with paper towels. In a small bowl, combine olive oil, smoked paprika, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Brush the seasoning mixture evenly over the salmon fillets to ensure full coverage for crispiness and flavor.
  2. Air Fry the Salmon: Place the salmon fillets skin-side down in the air fryer basket, ensuring they are not touching or crowded. Air fry at 400°F (about 200°C) for 8-10 minutes until the skin is crispy and the salmon flakes easily with a fork.
  3. Make the Slaw: While the salmon cooks, thinly slice cabbage and shred carrots. In a medium bowl, whisk together plant-based mayonnaise, apple cider vinegar, maple syrup, salt, and pepper until smooth. Toss the vegetables in the dressing until well coated and crisp.
  4. Warm the Tortillas: Gently warm the tortillas on a hot skillet or in the microwave until soft and pliable, ready for assembling the tacos.
  5. Assemble the Tacos: Break the cooked salmon into bite-sized pieces and place on the warmed tortillas. Top generously with the crunchy slaw, then garnish with fresh cilantro and optional sliced jalapeños for a spicy touch.

Notes

  • Patting the salmon dry before seasoning helps achieve crispy skin.
  • Do not overcrowd the air fryer basket to ensure even cooking and crispiness.
  • Use fresh, crunchy vegetables for the best texture contrast in the slaw.
  • Adjust the amount of apple cider vinegar in the slaw dressing to taste for desired acidity.
  • Assemble the tacos immediately before serving to keep tortillas from becoming soggy.
