Ingredients

Scale

Dough Ingredients

  • 3 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 1/4 teaspoons active dry yeast (1 packet)
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup plant-based milk (soy or almond), warmed to about 110°F
  • 1/4 cup plant-based butter, melted
  • Pinch of salt

Filling Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 cup plant-based butter, melted
  • 1 teaspoon vegetarian Worcestershire sauce (natural)

Frosting Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup plant-based butter, softened
  • 1 1/2 cups powdered sugar
  • 2 tablespoons plant-based milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract (natural)
  • 1/2 teaspoon natural gelling agent

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Dough: Warm the plant-based milk to about 110°F, then dissolve the active dry yeast and a pinch of sugar into it. Let it bloom for 5 to 10 minutes until foamy. Meanwhile, mix the flour, granulated sugar, and a pinch of salt in a large bowl. Add the melted plant-based butter and yeast mixture to the dry ingredients, stirring until a rough dough forms. Knead the dough for about 6 to 8 minutes until smooth and elastic. Cover and let it rise in a warm place until doubled in size, about 1 to 1.5 hours.
  2. Prepare the Filling: While the dough rises, combine brown sugar and cinnamon in a bowl. Melt plant-based butter and have it ready for spreading. Stir in the vegetarian Worcestershire sauce (natural) into the sugar-cinnamon mixture for subtle tang and depth.
  3. Roll and Fill: Once risen, punch down the dough gently and roll it out on a floured surface into a 16 by 12 inch rectangle. Brush the surface generously with melted plant-based butter, then evenly sprinkle the cinnamon-sugar filling over the dough.
  4. Shape the Rolls: Starting from one long side, carefully roll the dough into a tight log. Cut the log into 12 equal slices with a sharp knife. Place the rolls in a greased baking pan leaving space between each for expansion.
  5. Second Rise and Bake: Cover the pan with a damp towel and let the rolls rise for 30 to 45 minutes until puffy. Preheat oven to 350°F. Bake rolls for 25 to 30 minutes until golden brown and fragrant.
  6. Prepare the Frosting: While baking, whisk together softened plant-based butter, powdered sugar, plant-based milk, vanilla extract (natural), and natural gelling agent until smooth and creamy. The consistency should be thick yet silky and spreadable.
  7. Frost and Serve: Allow baked rolls to cool for 5 minutes, then generously spread the frosting over the warm rolls, letting it melt into every nook. Serve fresh and enjoy.

Notes

  • Keep liquids warm but not hot to activate the yeast properly.
  • Kneading thoroughly develops gluten for soft, chewy texture.
  • Do not skip the second rise for light, fluffy rolls.
  • Use fresh cinnamon and natural vanilla extract for the best flavor depth.
  • Frost rolls when slightly cooled so frosting melts perfectly without sliding off.
