Description

Strawberry Trifle with Angel Food Cake combines layers of fluffy angel food cake, ripe strawberries, and creamy plant-based cream set with a natural gelling agent for a light, refreshing, and visually stunning dessert perfect for any occasion.

Ingredients

Scale

Base

  • 4 cups angel food cake, chopped

Strawberry Layers

  • 4 cups fresh strawberries, washed, hulled, and sliced
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice (natural)
  • 2 tablespoons natural gelling agent dissolved in 1/2 cup water

Cream Layer

  • 2 cups plant-based cream
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract (natural)

Garnish

  • 1/4 cup slivered almonds (optional)
  • Powdered sugar (natural) for dusting
  • Fresh mint leaves (optional)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Strawberries: Wash and hull the strawberries before slicing them evenly. Toss the slices with granulated sugar and a squeeze of lemon juice, then let them macerate for at least 20 minutes to release their natural juices and soften up.
  2. Make the Strawberry Layer with Natural Gelling Agent: Puree half of the macerated strawberries and gently heat them with the natural gelling agent dissolved in water, stirring until it thickens slightly. Allow this mixture to cool before layering to achieve a perfect consistency that will hold the trifle layers together.
  3. Whip the Plant-Based Cream: Whip your plant-based cream along with vanilla extract (natural) until it forms soft peaks. This creamy layer will add an irresistible richness and fluffiness to your trifle.
  4. Assemble the Trifle: In a large glass bowl or individual serving glasses, start by placing a layer of chopped angel food cake at the bottom. Next, spoon a layer of the strawberry puree, followed by fresh strawberry slices. Add a generous layer of whipped plant-based cream. Repeat these layers until all ingredients are used, finishing with a dollop of cream and some decorative sliced strawberries on top.
  5. Chill Before Serving: Cover the trifle and refrigerate for at least 2 hours to allow the layers to meld together and the natural gelling agent to set the strawberry puree perfectly.

Notes

  • Use fresh strawberries for the sweetest and juiciest trifle.
  • Do not overwhip the cream; whip until soft peaks to keep it light and fluffy.
  • Chilling the trifle before serving helps the layers to set beautifully and blend flavors.
  • Keep the layers even for balanced flavor in every bite.
  • Serve in clear glass containers to showcase the colorful layers attractively.
